The San Diego Metropolitan Medical Strike Team (MMST) planned to test its abilities to respond at a training event scheduled for May. The MMST is a multi-agency, multi-disciplinary regional weapons of mass destruction response team. Members include SWAT, the San Diego County Bomb and Arson squad, Hazardous Materials, Public Health and Emergency Medical Services. MMST team members have special training and equipment for responding to weapons of mass destruction events. The real-life H1N1 virus allowed the team to train without the need for an exercise.
