The Regional Technology Center developed at San Diego State University Research Foundation is a neutral organization working in partnership with San Diego region’s public safety community to provide expertise in interoperable communications, geospatial technologies; assist with first responder technology prioritization, and establish a test bed for assessing and evaluating the viability of new technologies.

Operation Golden Phoenix ’08 implemented the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) concept of an all-hazards approach to emergency management. The Exercise fostered a full federal, state, county, city, tribal government and private sector partnership providing for flexibility at all levels to achieve common goals, while emphasizing implementation of emergency management measures that are known to be effective. Structured to achieve a complete integration of emergency management planning into mainstream policy-making and operational systems.
More than 20,000 business leaders, scientists, executives, investors and industry leaders who are the drivers behind new medicines, fuels, materials, foods, and processes will be in attendance. In addition, more than 6,000 attendees from more than 60 countries are expected.
CWID is the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff annual event that enables U.S. Combatant Commands and the international community to investigate new and emerging technologies that can be moved into operational use within 6-12 months following the execution period. The demonstration builds a temporary global network over which cutting edge communications technologies interact to support scripted scenario. Technologies are evaluated for utility, interoperability with existing and new systems, and security.
